British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on late Wednesday. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his management team stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community offered condolences for the champion in the following the devastating accident.
