JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution is not precisely an original feature. Instead, the newest movie from the Jujutsu Kaisen fantasy saga is a compilation of the show's sophomore season stitched together with the opening installments of its upcoming season, which begins the Culling Games storyline from the manga series. This positions Execution, which recently received a new trailer, the first way to watch the beginning of the forthcoming season ahead of its January 2026 premiere. The film debuts in cinemas in Japan starting November 7, and in North American regions on December 5.

The Culling Games Storyline

In the Culling Games storyline, Elite sorcerer Yuta Okkotsu makes his entrance into the show and is charged by jujutsu higher-ups to take down his peer Yuji Itadori. Their highly anticipated battle takes place for the initial time on the big screen, and if the animation team at the studio have an exceptional piece as episodes 40 and 41 in store for viewers this festive season, JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution may end up being the surprise that everyone has hoped for.

The "Thunderclap" Controversy

"Thunderclap episodes" from season two is widely regarded as one of the greatest sequences in the history of anime, despite the major issues in the previous year when the episodes first debuted. It was reported that the artists were enduring tight schedules to the degree, and the final version that was shown at the time was not fully polished and reportedly not what the animators initially intended.

Viewers knew about the issues behind the scenes, which made them appreciate what they saw even more. People clamored to see if the disc version, made available on March 18, would add any additional scenes to the sequence or to see if it was refined somewhat, and were elated to see just that, alongside tone adjustments, smoother movement, and different color grading.

The Film's Potential

But the Blu-ray can only refine what has initially broadcast in the original airing, whereas the movie has the potential to do the sequence justice with further changes and freshly created footage.

At present, these pair of installments represent the magnum opus of JuJutsu Kaisen, and should be given special attention by Mappa, especially considering the controversy they underwent at the time. It's captured the interest of series enthusiasts all over the globe, and the Culling Games storyline is a much-expected plotline of next year. If Mappa wants to start the year off right, revisit the anime's greatest sequence once again in theaters with the finest version we've witnessed to date.
