That Gruesome Animated Movie Ending That Stays With Audiences

Out of every mature cartoon movies I’ve ever watched, no other has stuck with me as much as the dread-soaked ending of a graphically gory as well as highly provocative film from 2022 Unicorn Wars.

Back in 2015’s, this Spanish writer-director created a dark, bleak and frequently brutal world with several minor , forlorn twinges of optimism.

While Unicorn Wars appears as it came from a desire to push animation even more, the director explained that it was rather an attempt to express a widespread, multicultural message concerning “the mutual source of each battle.”

This theme is communicated through a group of colorful pastel bears , clearly inspired by a famous series of lovable characters.

Maturing in a community built around aggression as well as the war machine, a lot of the bears are obsessed with exterminating the mythical beasts, because of a holy book that tells the bears they used to be rulers of the woods, until these creatures drove them out.

A few haven’t fully accepted the indoctrination, , choose to experiment with narcotics and engage sexually in the forest.

In contrast to their gentle counterparts, these bright beings display sexual organs , clear sex drives.

For a particular notably brutal, cynical bear, the character Bluey, the war against the unicorns becomes a road to control — and particularly to dominance above his softer, kinder brother the bear Tubby.

The character behaves aggressively and an obvious sociopath , and while terror overcomes his unit and kills his teammates sequentially, he seizes more and more power for himself, via progressively gory, damaging approaches.

At the same time, the horned creatures are enduring their own terror, in the form of an expanding, deadly beast in their habitat.

“At the beginning, it seems like a comedy,” the director said. “But then it evolves into a more intense and sorrowful movie. And in the finale, it’s a terrifying movie.”

The Unicorn Wars starts out feeling a bit like one of the most whimsical features by an iconic filmmaker, which find a naughty glee in allowing animated figures swear, engage in violence, or sex each other up.

Afterward it evolves into more akin to a darker work from that creator, featuring progressively graphic violence and a palpable connection to the real tragedy of battle.

Ultimately, it becomes a complete Grand Guignol massacre.

The terror that makes the film a Halloween-friendly movie begins a lot earlier than that description suggests.

Unicorn Wars is suited for the hardcore gorehounds, for lovers of extreme cinema who wish to see something they’ve never seen on-screen before, and are able to withstand a plot that pulls unflinching brutality.

View it in a dark room with no disturbances, and that ending will crawl deep within you and take up residence there.
