The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG

The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a dice-based role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to create a TTRPG that explores the series' post-pandemic setting. This initiative was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign planned to launch in the spring of 2026.

"This endeavor will bring the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the tabletop, offering fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," states an official release.

Launch products will include a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, miniatures, and various deluxe editions.

Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this universe, a deadly virus called Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, sending the United States into chaos. As the pandemic worsens, society crumbles and hostile groups rise, turning the city into a warzone. To restore order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. This is where the players come in.

Development on the game has been in progress for approximately several years, and it is confirmed to be finished. The upcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a preorder system to access a broader audience, specifically in North America. Manufacturing will start right after the fundraiser, with shipping projected for the latter part of 2026.

An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System

A preview at the game's rules confirms it employs 10-sided dice predominantly through its new GRIS system, promoting a streamlined and strategic approach. Agents leverage abilities to roll small dice pools, typically from one to five d10s.

  • Rather than adding results together, players choose a single “resolution die” from the pool.
  • This die is then measured against a set challenge number.
  • Achieving a perfect 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as extra damage or enhanced aid.

Engagements Emphasize Tactical Placement and Situational Insight

Battles prioritize placement and environmental awareness, reflecting the video games. Factors like cover, height advantage, or visibility have a direct impact success chances. This mechanic is designed to favor teamwork and smart positioning over simple statistics.

A Thematic Wound Mechanic

The way injuries is tracked introduces a interesting thematic twist. Agents have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage weakens their effectiveness by lowering the number of d10s.

  1. At zero health, an agent is downed, but they’re not knocked out.
  2. They may still move and take limited actions, emulating the last stand seen in many shooter games.
  3. Any agent knocked down must consult a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like trauma or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Scenario

A free introductory rulebook will be released soon. It includes a ready-to-play introductory scenario titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players spearhead the search for a missing medical team and work to stop an attack by the violent Rikers gang, who have seized control of that Manhattan district. More specifics and the complete product lineup will be unveiled near the Kickstarter start date.
