The Reform UK leader Accuses Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues
The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by instructing students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
During an event for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on British schools, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this negative culture.”
Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.
“The politician has crafted his public life on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”
Reform, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks suggested the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. He said: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, years to turn this around.”
Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Honoring Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”
The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.
The politician has charged the union head with being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned at school, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.
National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for students.
During the American gathering, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He said such groups were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I mean this. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to your online courses. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”
The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. It offers these beautiful courses for free to all who wish to learn.”
