The Renowned Musician Encourages Support to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Christmas No 1.
A campaign is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The project hopes to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Possibility for Support and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it fails to, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”
Powerful Theme of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.
“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup
The track was produced in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in September. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the piece was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of artists appearing on Lullaby encompasses a selection of acclaimed names from the music world. All took part in the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a significant sum for relief efforts.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was crafted by a group of talented individuals. The single showcases a mix of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.
The team running the project have clarified that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“There is no a rigid aim,” a figure explained. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the more the merrier. It all goes out to Gaza.”
The context in the area was characterized as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of property said to be levelled or seriously harmed.
“In that context, a handful of millions is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is above all raising awareness for this issue and proving that another narrative exists.”
The song is launching on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from later in the month.
